Privacy Policy

IO Careers (“we”, “us”) operates iocareers.org, a job board for careers at international organisations. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
1. Data we collect
Account data. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier. We do not receive or store your Google password.
Profile data. If you upload a CV, we extract information such as education, skills, languages, and years of experience to build your profile and provide personalised job recommendations.
Preference data. Your saved jobs, alert preferences, preferred job levels, locations, and domains.
Usage data. If you allow analytics, the pages you visit, jobs you click on, and interactions with site features (see Cookies below). We also collect device type, browser, and IP address.
2. How we use your data
- Provide and improve the job board service
- Generate personalised job recommendations
- Send email alerts about jobs closing soon (only if you opt in)
- Diagnose errors and monitor site performance
- Analyse usage patterns to improve the product
3. Automated processing
If you upload a CV, we use automated tools to read it and suggest relevant jobs. Your CV content is processed by a third-party provider and is not used to train AI models. You can delete your CV and profile data at any time from your profile page.
4. Third-party services
We work with third-party providers for sign-in (Google), CV processing, analytics, error monitoring, email delivery, and hosting. These providers only access the data necessary to perform their function on our behalf. Email us for the current list of providers and where each one stores data.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
6. Data retention
We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account is active. CV files and extracted text are deleted immediately when you remove your CV. Alert delivery logs are retained for deduplication purposes. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. You can also withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@iocareers.org.
Specifically, you can:
- Access & export your profile data from your profile page
- Delete your CV, saved jobs, and profile data at any time
- Opt out of email alerts from your notification preferences
- Request full account deletion by contacting us
8. Data security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, secure session cookies, direct-to-storage file uploads, and access-controlled cloud infrastructure. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
9. Children
IO Careers is not directed at anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via a notice on the site. Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
